Gardman R688 Walk-In Greenhouse Reviews

It took about an hour to assemble it and get it all set up. It was easy to do by myself and the metal poles and plastic connectors are all labeled. The instructions are on the outside of the box, which I didn’t care for, since they can get torn in shipping, but mine were fine. They were easy to follow, since it is just a labeled drawing with a few sentences.

I have it on the south side of my house on a concrete patio. On the inside, I tied down a cynder block in each corner to keep it from blowing away and it is doing a great job. I also bought a heater and thermostat for it. At night, inside the greenhouse the temp stays in the 40s, even though the temp outside is in the low teens. During the day, even though the temp is in the 30s, it gets up into the 80s and quite humid inside the greenhouse. I’m in central NC, so the sun is fairly strong and does a great job of heating it up during the day, but once the sun goes down and the temp drops, you’ll need a heater (and thermostat) in it to keep it at a specific temp, which I bought at Greenhouse Megastore. I bought the Portable Electric Heater, 120V, Item Number: HT-2000 () and the Portable Prewired Thermostat, Item Number: CT-1000 () and both are doing a great job.

This greenhouse is perfect if you want one that is small and conveniently sized. I was so excited when I received it and it is fun and useful. The wind blew it away one time and the joints got twisted and useless, but the company sent me some new ones in just a few days. So when you construct yours, try to put it out of the wind. You wouldn’t believe how cute it is.

I’m really pleased with this greenhouse. It was pretty easy to assemble but I’m glad I read other reviews to know it’s just a tad challenging to get the poles in (just a very tight fit). There are also little pockets that the end of the poles fit into and they were a little difficult to find (tucked into the inside seams). Very attractive and easy to move.

I have the 72″ x 72″ and am ordering the 60″ x 60″ as it is really great. Am growing green peppers to full size on the Oregon coast. Mostly easy to set up (it is a tight fit to put the poles in place) and once set up is very stable. We had a late high wind and rain storm, and it didn’t move an inch. Really can recommend this product.

Weatherguard Greenhouse, 6×8, #IS 62901 I ordered two of the 6×12 and connected end-to-end for total 6×24. Height, width and length more than ample for tomatoes, peppers, cukes, etc. Almost anything that will vine. Steel frame easily supports hanging plants plus vines. Greenhouse construction depends on ropes and outer skin to hold it together. Probably okay in most cases, but, in rural central Texas, we average winds over 20 mph, which is why I wanted the greenhouse…to protect plants. I added screws to each joint for safety plus attached steel frame to wood base and home made 36″ anchors rope tied to upper frame for stability. Wind was over 45 mph last week and no problem. I’d recommend the greenhouse as an economical solution for wind protection.

initially i was worried that some parts might have gotten lost as the box it came in had a lot of damage by the time we received it. however, once we put everything together (it IS easier with two people), we found that nothing was missing. we ended up bracing the greenhouse to the concrete in the backyard as lancaster,ca can get very, very windy. the instructions that came with the package was actually NOT for this particular size but, luckily, we figured it out. if not for the state of the box it came in (as well as the not-so-helpful instructions), i would’ve rated this product a “5.”

I’ve used this greenhouse two seasons and it has been great. Super easy to assemble, no hardware required (or to loose). If you live in a windy area I suggest you secure it against a fence or railing. Super deal for the price. I am buying a couple more for this year! The best thing is it is small enough to put in your garage if you need to winter over some plants or will quickly disasemble for storage.
